PocketMobile expands product development with resources
in Sri Lanka
On September 1, 2010, PocketMobile's product development team was increased with more employees located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The team in Sri Lanka is initially staffed with about a dozen engineers and is focused on the development of new functionality and modules for PocketMobile's PreCom platform.
"The development department in Sri Lanka has been running for just over six months and, together with the organization in the Nordic countries, provides us with more resources to further develop the PreCom platform. We know that partners and customers continually have higher demands, and our aim is to meet these demands. The Sri Lanka team cooperates well with staff in the Nordic development department and feel that the cooperation so far is a great success," says Anders Tormod, CEO of PocketMobile.
PocketMobile has chosen to open a development department in Colombo, Sri Lanka for several reasons. For instance, the region Sri Lanka generally has low staff turnover and IT companies are relatively small. This makes it possible to be an attractive company also on a small scale. PocketMobile has also performed research through other companies that have succeeded with development departments in Sri Lanka.
Chatura Wijetunga is the appointed team leader in Colombo and is working closely with the product development team in Sweden. Chatura has many years of experience in software development in fields such as C#, VS and SQL Server, MCPD ASP.NET & VS 2008.
"Not only do we have the privilege to have numerous competent and sharp employees onboard, we now have greater opportunity to really focus on the development of modules and more functionality in our PreCom platform.
