DHL's international network links more than 220 countries and territories worldwide, has 300 000 employees and is the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry. DHL Express Norway has recently signed an agreement with PocketMobile on the development of a new scanner solution for all terminals in Norway.
The solution will be developed on the PreCom Platform and will be installed on approximately 150 DHL Express mobile handhelds. PocketMobile's partner in the DHL-project is WPW and the solution will be developed in close cooperation with DHL Operations and DHL Business IT. Consafe Logistics provides hardware and related services to DHL.
The scanner solution will also be integrated with DHL's business system for real-time updated information and a more efficient operation. A new user interface for the solution will also be developed and the solution will be implemented throughout Norway and will provide DHL Express a complete picture of where important equipment is located at a given time. The solution is fully mobile and independent of location, giving DHL the opportunity to move equipment from one location to another, when necessary, without having to reconfigure.
- "The new scanner solution will be more user friendly and have better functionality. It is extremely important for us to be on top of things, keep track of all our operations and know that all shipments arrive at the right place at the right time," says Tommy Slattum, Terminal Manager at DHL Express.
- "We are pleased that DHL has chosen our mobile platform PreCom. Schenker, DSV, and now also DHL has chosen PreCom, why it is no longer any doubt about which platform is the leader in the transport & logistics industry," says Fredrik Gottfridsson, CEO at PocketMobile
